Martijn Kleij van DHL aan het woord over zijn ervaringen op de WWV

“Het amount of appointments I have in 2 days is gigantic."

Martijn Kleij, VP Marketing and Retail DHL Benelux, has been attending Webwinkel Vakdagen on behalf of DHL for at least eleven years. DHL itself has been there for at least twelve years. When he took over the baton from his predecessor, he did not have to think long about participating in the WWV. "Surely this is the fair of the year where we want to be. This is the trade fair for everything in and around e-commerce and that is our main growth market."

Strengthening market position 

DHL's goals during the WWV are unambiguous: to strengthen their market position. Kleij: "We are number two in e-commerce and number one in b2b. We try to validate that during the WWV with the image we project." Other important goals are lead generation and network expansion. "This will help us continue to grow."

The WWV helps DHL by offering a stage for efficient network expansion. "This is the place where everyone comes together and can easily and quickly connect with anyone - both existing and new customers. You also notice that people are willing to introduce others. So this is also an ideal fair from a networking perspective."

DHL's main target audience at the fair comprises companies looking for business shipping services. These are mainly web shops looking for a long-term logistics solution.

Cooperation is the magic word

Kleij recommends everyone to participate in the WWV when they are looking to expand their network and business. "The number of appointments I have over two days is really huge. Some of that is intentional, but we also get to know a lot of new people to engage with. Not just based on a supplier relationship, but also partnerships. I think the latter in particular is increasingly a magic word within e-commerce."

This fair is super efficient

As a participant, Kleij has a number of favourite features of the WWV: "First of all, I'm a huge fan of the VIP room. That makes it very easy to meet up. The happy hour after four o'clock provides an additional opportunity. Moreover, Thuiswinkel.org has its New Year's reception here. That makes this fair super efficient."
